Pay It Forward

http://www.cnn.com/video/?/video/us/2008/10/11/natpkg.or.gas.pay.forward.kgw

So I saw this video on CNN tonight and for some reason it just really really hit me hard. So hard that I almost got in my car and drove to 7-11 to buy someone's gas. There is no better time than the present to be your brother's keeper. I have decided that I am going to look for more ways to bring random acts of kidness into the world. An no, if I already know you and you see me at the gas station I will not buy your gas. That doesn't count.

Do something nice for someone tomorrow. They need it and so do you.

One of my ex coworkers, who's anti obama mass forwarded out this email about Obama's citizenship saying she wasn't sure if it's true or not... Why would you forward something you're not sure it true? I'm so sick of receiving these emails. I usually ignore them, but I thought I'd do the research since she didn't and replied to all. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gA6_k3NtXZs

Don't you need your birth certificate to get your social security card? I think now they are asking for it when getting or renewing your drivers license as well? I wouldn't take this at face - I don't think it's as cut and dry as this video would have it seem.

I guess they are really saying that he's just a big O' terrorist! I'm mean, come on, why would someone go through all the trouble. I'm sorry but it's illogical to think that Obama is hiding his citizenship. Furthermore, I haven't seen one negative email regarding mccain being circulated around. I mean, shit, is he perfect or something. I'm so ready to vote and get it over with.

Ok on another note, some asshole at work forwarded some bullshit email against democrats to the entire company the other day. And again as I've stated before, I don't think that politics is an appropriate topic at work. So I was immediately irritated before I even read it. It was some BS about how the democrats had pressured fanny mae to extend credit to less than elligible. Ok, so what if it's true. My question is, what if people started replying and then people all over the company got offended. I mean, does he have shit for brains? What's worse, is that I heard the president and owner of the company ask someone about that email and then asked, "Oh are you a democrat?" I didn't hear the person's response but he quickly shut up. That really got me fuming. Am I suprised that the presidents of our company are republicans, no. But I'm pissed as hell to think that I would be discriminated against at work because I'm NOT republican. I had ordered a Obama car magnet online and got it the other day but have been contemplating putting in on my car because I don't want to be harrased about it. I'm just irritated with all the stupid people I have around me. I can't believe that a few of my friends are republicans, when they are the exact people that McCain is against. I mean what on earth does McCain have to offer a poor, uneducated, single mother? Ok, I'm going to yoga now.

I've seen a recent influx of the bullshit emails myself lately and it frustrates me too. I would love it if just once I would get an email debating policy ideas instead of one that is intended to create a false sense of fear. I don't know why people do that but I can only guess that it is because they are unable to have an educated discussion about the issues that matter. sad sad sad.

Really ladies...Life is WAY to short to get mad at email...the amount of inane forwarded material is practically infinite, and certainly not limited to political silliness...Rumor mongering is hardly new...the methods just keep evolving with the times...and it's not going away anytime soon...if you can't read it without feeling angry just do what the masses do...delete without reading.
Don't waste good "Mad" energy on that stuff!

Yes deleting it has become my new approach :)

Ya it's just frustrating when someone who supposedly is suppose to be your friend can only spend the time forwarding you BS. Sad thing is that she reads them and takes them for fact without investigating them further. I just feel bad for her but I know really there isn't anything I can do to change her mind. From now on I for sure will delete them, I just wish she would too :(
